Self-Description:
Since 1976, the Tides Foundation has worked with donors
to strengthen community-based organizations and the progressive
movement through innovative grantmaking. We define "progressive" as
creating a positive impact on people's lives in ways that honor and
promote human rights, justice, and a healthy, sustainable
environment. We have awarded more than 300 million dollars to
nonprofits working for social change in this country and abroad.
Most grants are made on the recommendation of one of our individual,
family, or institutional donors who are interested in specific
strategies furthering social change and environmental
sustainability.
Program: Tides Foundation offers a
wide range of services, including: Donor Advised Funds that
integrate financial advantages and convenience with social
responsibility; flexibly designed grantmaking programs, personalized
to fit your needs; an expert, dedicated staff and more than twenty
five years of grantmaking expertise in the social change movement;
and opportunities for learning and building community through
gatherings, other activities, and materials targeted to your
interests.
For Our Grantseekers: Tides Foundation manages more than 250
Donor Advised Funds, each of which represents a unique partnership
with our donors. If you are part of a nonprofit organization engaged
in promoting social change, we encourage you to review our
Guidelines for Grantseekers, which will aid you in evaluating
whether and how to submit a funding request to Tides.
Actual:
A pass-through money funnel for other
people's money to pay for left-wing projects with anonymity for
donors and management fees for Tides Foundation. The more than 250
Tides Donor Advised Fund projects use the
IRS tax exemption of Tides Foundation, and may keep their donors,
income, assets and expenditures hidden from public inspection.

Donor Advised Funds.
